  • VCARS - Lanark County enables police officers to attend to front-line duties and focus on law enforcement. 

 

  • VCARS - Lanark County allows police to concentrate on the investigational process; while VCARS tends to the needs of the victim(s). 

 

  • VCARS - Lanark County is comparable to ONE STOP SHOPPING – a broker of services in the social service network.

 

  • VCARS  - Lanark County allows officers to leave the scene and proceed to other calls sooner. 

 

  • VCARS - Lanark County Responders and Staff are acutely aware of local services, resources, pertinent information, that can further assist victims.

 

  •  VCARS -  Lanark County provides resource information for longer term support and care. 

 

  • VCARS - Lanark County may be able to assist victims who require interpretation, since many volunteers have command of alternate language skills. 

 

  • VCARS - Lanark County can either recommend or provide literature, videos etc. on occurrence subjects (e.g. suicide, domestic violence, sexual assault, grief & bereavement).

VCARS - Lanark County helps meet the police mandate to provide victim services

under the Police Services Act (O Reg 3/99,s17). An amendment to the Act in

November 1997 included victim assistance as one of the legislated duties of police

services in Ontario.
