Calls Outside LC-VS's Mandate

VS-LC cannot respond to the following types of calls:

• Violent situations where the offender has not been separated through arrest, detention or removal

• Victims who are already actively involved with other services that provide crisis assistance

• People in crisis whose situation is complicated by an active and apparent mental health illness

• People in crisis who are under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and thereby, are unpredictable or unlikely to benefit immediately from any crisis intervention

• Children victims of physical or sexual abuse, under 16 years of age who are not in their parents’ or legal guardian’s care and fall within the mandate of the Children’s Aid Society.

These situations will be managed by the reponding police officers and appropriate agencies.
